"Impact on Jupiter"
24" x 36" Acrylic © 1995

In 1995 Comet Shoemaker-Levy crashed into the giant planet, Jupiter. Here we see the great flash as a piece of the comet impacts Jupiter. In the foreground more pieces approach their doom. The ring of bluish light is a huge aurora, the largest such display in the solar system. Lightening more powerful than atomic bombs flash on Jupiter's night side.
