"Stellar Blackhole"
24" x 30" Acrylic ©1995

Blackholes are the collapsed cores of giant stars many times larger than the sun. Their enormous gravity is so powerful that even light cannot escape. The blackhole shown here orbits a red giant star, out of view to the right, from which it is drawing material. In the foreground the remains of an extinct comet drifts towards oblivion.
