The
poses and motions of the human figure are largely dictated by the
situation a person is in as well as their emotional state at the time.
When an artist ignores this fact the resulting work can seem unnatural
and contrived. For this reason I prefer to take a rather candid approach
to the figure and provide enough visual information to explain the
pose. The human figure is also about the most cliched subject in art.
Choosing unusual perspectives, subjects, and lighting help to keep
this genre fresh and exciting.
