To the human mind, time and distance tend to lessen the reality of things beyond our normal experience. An event that took place thousands of years ago in a distant land was just as real an event as reading this sentence. The people of past ages had hopes, dreams, families, love, work, tragedies, triumphs all of which were as real in their lives as they are in ours. In these paintings I have attempted to bridge the chasm separating us from these very real and often remarkable people and their achievements.
