"Nightwatch" Anasazi Indians of 1300 AD study the sky from their lofty dwelling place 150 feet above the valley floor in what is now Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico. Only one male figure is visible for most of the men are in the Kiva, the circular structure on the left, participating in ceremonies far into the night. Exactly why the Anasazi started dwelling in such inaccessible places is still a mystery. |
